Accessibility

The State Support Team Region 1 is striving to make its websites accessible for all users. This include the following updates and changes to the content on this site.

Skip Links

The website now contains two skip links that bypass the horizontal, drop-down menu. Skip to Content takes users directly to the top of each page. Skip to Sitemap takes users to a menu of linked pages, nested alphabetically beneath their menu title. The menu enables users to see and/or hear the menu through the Responsivevoice feature.

Text Translation & Text to Speech

The text on pages can be translated using the Google Translate app. Some browsers and applications can aid with translations, too. These include Google Chrome , which has a translate extension ; Firefox which has several translation add ons, notably S3.Google Translator and Google Translator for Firefox ; and Opera , which has Google™ Translator by Sarahavilov.

Most pages on this site have a text-to-speech app, Responsivevoice , that enables users to listen to the text on each page. There are also browser extensions that enable users to listen to text and free and paid services. Non-text files such as those created in Adobe Portable Document Format or Microsoft Office formats cannot be translated using this app, but can be uploaded into free programs that include ImTranslator , and iSpeech .

Font Size, High Contrast & Grayscale

Users can view this website in high contrast or grayscale. Fonts can be enlarged for greater readability. The exception to this is non-text content, such as embedded documents or graphic elements. For these, alternatives are provided as noted below.

Alternate File Formats

State Support Team Region 1 created files are being revised for greater accessibility. This site posts links to many resources that are created by entities outside of the Ohio State Support Team network. Whenever possible, links to specific files have been directed to the source; alternative text-only formats have been provided for many resources.

Embedded Documents

Embedded documents are available on some pages. The documents use the Google Docs Viewer. If the embedded document is not accessible to a user, an alternative download link is provided to enable users to access the content on their own device.

Portable Document Format (PDF)

Portable Document Format (PDF) files can be accessed with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software. For details on how PDF files can be translated to text for screen readers, visit access.adobe.com , Adobe Reader X Accessibility , or Acrobat X Pro .

Microsoft Office Files

Microsoft Office files (DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX) can be viewed in several ways:

  1. if the user has Microsoft Office installed;
  2. if the user uses a free, open source software program that can open these files, such as Apache Open Office or LibreOffice ;
  3. or if the user downloads the file and uploads the file in Google Docs.

Validators

Pages have been evaluated with the online WAVE Accessibility Validator. Pages have also been examined using SiteImprove .
